Welcome to the post-Thursday round version of the Memorial Tournament "Daily Hot Takes" segment. If you're new here, "Daily Hot Takes" is where we bring you live updates from the PGA Tour, analyze the leaderboard, and give you insight on the best picks for the next day's action. Today was a great day: the course was scorable, the weather held up nicely, and some players executed, while others, like Cam Young, played miserable golf. I'll get into that in more detail below. Let's dive in!

The Leaderboard Drama

Let's start with the big hitters and headline-makers from today:

Adam Hadwin (1): Adam came out firing and was clearly making up for not making the cut in his homeland last weekend. Adam opened with a -4 through his first seven holes and closed with a cool 66, finding himself in the lead going into tomorrow. Like I said yesterday, a 66 would be a clubhouse-leading round. It just happened to be the polite guy who can take a tackle from up north rather than the recent offender from down south.

Scottie Scheffler (2): Overall, a great round by Scottie, as predicted. If it wasn't for the brutal mud ball bogey situation on 5 and the lip out on 14, Scottie would have shot a 65 at minimum. Anyway, can't complain; he gave us something to root for, unlike that scrawny piece of shit with the early tee time I'll be talking about in just a few minutes.

Xander Schauffele (T3): Xander is clearly still in PGA Championship form. Not surprising from a guy who looks like he can handle no more than 3 beers before he either calls his boys to tell them how much he loves them or blacks out and hops on Omegle to talk to minors. Either way, Xander gives off pigeon vibes, but man, can he play golf. Firing a clean, bogey-free 68 with next to no mistakes was highly impressive, and he looks like he could win this thing too.

Collin Morikawa (T3): Collin started strong with a hole-out eagle on 2 and just stayed red hot all day. If his odds weren't 7-1 he would have been my value pick for today. I am Collin guy and he is in great form right now. It is a pleasure to watch.

Our Current Picks:

Scottie Scheffler (-5): As stated above, we lost the first-round leader bet, but he provided hope. His odds to win are currently around that 2/3.75-1 number, and there really isn't any value in betting on Scottie this tournament.

Viktor Hovland (-3): Hovland had a solid round and is still a strong bet to win this thing. He battled with Xander and can compete at that level consistently. I gave him at 16-1, and he is currently at 14-1, so from a value perspective, there is some value there. For you numb nuts who say there isn't, look at it this way: we got to watch his form for one round and determine for ourselves if he has a shot. Yeah, sure, we lost an extra 2 points in betting terms, but we essentially got a free day out of it and a stronger understanding of the field. If you still don't get it, I'll put it this way: if you liked him before at 16-1, you should love him now at 14-1. Simple.

Tom Kim (-2): Tom was our longshot at 50-1, so we didn't expect much, but he still looks good. A few mistakes, sure, but his iron game is lights out, and he can stay in this thing all the way. He may not win, but I would argue that the South Korean will fight his way to at least a top 10.

Ludvig Aberg (-4): Ludvig's round was looking very normal until he bogeyed 12 and went on a tear, much like his ancestors would have back in the day, fearlessly swinging and striking fear into all the women and children around. He went on to birdie 13, 14, and 15 and closed with a 68. I gave Ludvig out at 25-1, and he is now 14-1. That's value, folks.

Theegala/Fleetwood/Homa/Young: Now, now, now. If Theegala hadn't played like a complete disgrace to the sport, Cam Young would have been my first victim in our unreleased segment "Rated R," where we just viciously attack anyone for being a complete waste of their dad's sperm. I'll make this quick: Tommy and Homa did exactly as I assumed, Theegala was playing well then fell apart, and Cam, well, he'll need his own paragraph for what I'm about to say.

Cam Young Rant

Okay, this sorry piece of shit, Cam Young, is a coward and a loser. I can't believe I chose to bet on him over a fellow Canadian. Hand-up accountability, that's my fault. I would like to see Cam Young get his card revoked and never again be seen on the tour. What he was doing today was completely unwatchable, and he never had a chance. This guy went +4, and that was his best-case scenario for today's round. Now, divert your eyes below for some chirps I came up with while this waste of a pro card was playing:

  1. Cam Young looks like a guy who enjoys being a cuck.

  2. Plays golf like he’s too busy texting his wife’s boyfriend for tips.

  3. Makes more excuses on the course than that fat fuck Patrick Reed.

  4. Struggles on the green like I assume he struggles with the female body.

  5. Cam's putting is shakier than a fired-up crackhead who just found a .01 of a rock.

  6. Plays like he’s got his mind on the transformation surgery he’s saving up for.

  7. Swings with all the confidence of a virgin on prom night.

Tomorrow's Picks

Now, the juicy part—our picks for tomorrow’s action:

Value Winner Pick

For a value pick, I have a sharp bet that everyone and their mother should pounce on—except for Cam Young, who I hope never sees a dollar again. Now, I know I've given this guy out already, but it's time for a sneaky half-unit double dip on the South Korean, Tom Kim. Tom was at 50-1 pre-tournament, and now he's 66-1, just 4 strokes back from the lead. I strongly believe Hadwin will fall off like usual, while Tom is a clutch performer. I advise taking him E/W for a top 4 finish at 55-1. That may seem confusing, but I'll make it simple for those who aren't as knowledgeable in the gambling space. Tom is 55-1 to finish in the top 4, when just yesterday he was 50-1 to win. On pure value terms, it's a great bet with strong potential. I am 100% positive Tom Kim won't pull a Cam Young on us.

That's all I got for today's "Daily Hot Takes" from the PGA Tour. Tune in tomorrow for hopefully a calmer blog and more updates for the Memorial Tournament. Gear up for an intense Friday, keep those bets sharp, and get ready to cheer on the dogs we have in the fight. Cheers & fuck Cam Young!

Cam Young was such a horrible pick to give anyone. He’s such a pigeon of a player who’s only goal on tour is to see the other players shafts.
