124th US Open Preview: First Round Flair & He is Him
Golf fans, it's time to dive into the 124th US Open at the historic Pinehurst in North Carolina. After a decade away, Pinehurst is back, and it's ready to test the best golfers in the world. This course is notorious for being a beast, and this year, the US Open organizers are determined to make it as challenging as possible. Expect thick rough, tricky greens, and plenty of drama.
In this blog, we'll explore two exciting segments: "First Round Flair" and "He is Him". Let's get into it!
"First Round Flair"
Bryson DeChambeau at 28-1
Bryson DeChambeau is my pick for the first-round leader. Known for his big hitting and highly calculated approach to the game, Bryson is a unique character on the tour. The guy analyzes every possible movement for every swing with the intensity of someone who just popped 500 mg of Adderall. It’s the most mental midget shit I've ever seen, but hey, if it helps him sleep at night, who am I to judge? I'm just the guy who writes about it.
Bryson is the longest hitter on the tour, and his game is reflecting some solid form lately. He was in contention for the PGA Championship, and I see him being in the mix again—at least for the first two days. Do you remember when Koepka walked behind him during an interview, and Bryson almost cried and bitched about it for weeks? Classic mental midget Bryson I'm talking about. He might be better at math now, but he's still the same guy. I expect him to come out hot, lead the field for the first two days, and then collapse in typical Bryson fashion.
"He is Him"
72-Hole Matchups:
Finau over Wyndham Clark (-125)
Tony Finau has been playing consistent golf over the past two weeks, while Wyndham Clark has been unimpressive. Clark, the defending champion, seems like a tour fraud. I don’t see him sniffing the potential to defend his US Open trophy. Finau will make him look like one of his kids, bringing Finau’s child total to around 87 or whatever he is at. Finau has a lot of sex, that's all I know.
Tommy Fleetwood over Justin Thomas (-134)
Tommy Fleetwood is in fine form, thanks to Butch Harmon working wonders with his swing. Tommy is hitting it pure, while Justin Thomas has been as mediocre as Cam Young. Fading Justin Thomas could be a goldmine. Fleetwood is the play here.
3 Balls - Round 1:
Corey Conners over Emiliano Grillo & Stephan Jaeger (+115)
This group screams Corey Conners. The guy is flushing it and draining putts. Conners is in top form right now and is itching to taste Major glory. Take Conners to dominate this grouping.
Cameron Smith over Sam Burns & Lucas Glover (+137)
Lucas Glover is a bum, plain and simple. He has no business being within two strokes of this grouping. Sam Burns has been dialed in, but the Aussie Cameron Smith has too much to prove. Smith will crush them, making them wish they had his accent and game.
